Erica Kencke I have had this in my library for three years. It appeals to students who like magic, fantasy & mystery. The picture on the cover helps students know what to expect when selecting a book. Though it doesn't appeal to everyone, those who choose to read it love it. It is suitable for strong students at the end of French I, and anyone above that.
What I most appreciate about it is that Dalton manages to tell an appealing story, one that makes the reader want to keep reading, in very simple French without sounding stilted! Very few authors pull this off.
