It’s Bekah, your student. You did great on this book, I am proud of you! Love you SMCH!
I love this book. Such a great idea to have a QR audio code at the beginning of each chapter for students to follow along. It's a great benefit for students to be able to follow along and listen. The pronunciation, speech, and speed of the speaker are perfect as well. They provide time for students to match and process what they hear with what they are reading which greatly helps comprehension.
I love it when I can read authentic stories written from the inside of the culture. This is the case with Xolo, a story inspired by a Mexican legend and written by a Mexican author. I loved the simplicity of the language, the plot and the strong cultural component. I know my students will enjoy this story as well.
I just read Xolo. It is intentionally written to be easy enough for first semester. It's amazing how she was able to use cognates and very simple language to convey a story that includes an Aztec language, foreshadowing, some conspiratorial manipulation, bullying and a shocking, surprising, absolutely unforseeable.... event. I loved it.
The best part is that Marta reads the audio book. Each chapter has a separate QR code.
