A masterpiece of Literature. Brilliant. Above even the prowess of Hemingway, Dickens, Orwell, Tolkein, and Shakespeare. Its plot is flawless, engaging and beautiful, and its humor rich and hilarious. I see no way in which this book may be surpassed, and it is Dexemple's masterwork and magnum opus.
Students have argued over who gets to read this book, as I bought only one. Like my students, I think the premise is super interesting. I am not fond of the poop references.
This book took my breath away! The story made me cry for the beautiful orphaned baby Copito, and then cheer when Copito grew into a mischievous gorilla and found love at last. A true story, perfect for animal lovers!
The illustrations are beautiful, in the style of a graphic novel, and they make the language comprehensible to everyone, beginners to advanced. The writing is clear, easy-to-read, highly comprehensible.
You MUST read this compelling book. Share it with students. It will touch your heart and theirs.
